Location: Hackney, Greater London
Wage: £250 -£288 per week
Start date: ASAP
Working hours: 40 hours per week / Monday to Friday 10.00 am – 6.00 pm
Time spent in training: You are required to spend a minimum of 8 hours per week in training that supports your apprenticeship course
Course entry requirements: GCSEs at grade C/level 4 or above in English and Maths

About the role:

A UK-based social enterprise with two arms: a community interest company and a company limited by shares. London based with offices throughout the Sub-Saharan Africa. Set up in 2005 they now run radio, television and mobile campaigns to change behaviours and improve lives in developing countries. Seeking a candidate to become part of the finance team. Gaining increased responsibility and look at further aspects of finances.

Job duties and responsibilities:

  • Working to ensure the smooth operation of all finance matters and that the policies and procedures are upheld.
  • Recording all transactions for the financial accounts, and reviewing and inputting the monthly country office records in to the accounting software (Quickbooks).
  • Preparing the monthly management accounts; contributing to reports to the Board and Finance and Audit Committee; funder’s reports and reports to other stakeholders.
  • Preparing monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Preparing VAT returns and assisting with other statutory returns such as Companies House reports and HMRC expenses and benefits reporting.
  • Assisting with the year-end account’s preparation and the financial audit.
  • Assisting with any administrative and financial tasks as required.

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Very high intellectual ability as demonstrated through academic records and performance on specific tests.
  • Excellent numerical skills and ability to analyse data.
  • Excellent organisational skills and a keen attention to detail.
  • Reliable, honest and trustworthy.
  • Good IT skills in particular must be competent with Microsoft Excel.
  • Self-motivated and able to work in a busy office environment. Able to cope with changing priorities.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
