APPRENTICESHIP COURSE: Early Years Practitioner Level 2

We understand that it is often difficult for parent’s to put their child into nursery which is why we hope Wimbledon Day Nursery will be the perfect setting in which you and your child feel completely safe and at home.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensuring the safeguarding and wellbeing of all children at all times
• To be a source of emotional stability for the children, comforting them when needed, but also supporting them to comfort themselves when they are able.
• Act as a key person for a group of children and ensure that information on your key-children is shared with all staff to ensure that all their needs are being met by all.
• Assisting with mealtimes
• Carrying out observations and planning activities for the children with support from room leader/curriculum manager.
• Work in partnership with parents
• Carrying out risk assessments
• To provide a wide and varied range of activities for the children individually and as a group appropriate to their needs and developmental stage, using The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.

SKILLS DEVELOPED WITHIN THE ROLE:

• Professionalism
• Good communication
• Working as a team
• Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage, extending and elaborating on children’s learning.
• Knowledge of the different age groups and how to plan activities accordingly.
