Job title: Business Administrator – Apprenticeship

Location: City Centre, Birmingham, West Midlands

Wage: £4.50 per hour rising to £5 per hour upon completion of probation

Start date: ASAP

Working hours: 30 – 40 hours per week depending on season

Time spent in training: You are required to spend a minimum of 7 hours per week in training that supports your apprenticeship course

Course entry requirements: GCSEs at grade C/level 4 or above in English and Maths

About the role:

My Client provides business administration services in the form of property inspections and detailed report writing to Residential Lettings Agents and Landlords within the Birmingham City Centre and surrounding areas. They primarily provide a full range of Inventory reports at various stages of a rental tenancy cycle – Inventory reports, Check In reports, Mid Term reports, Check Out reports. They also provide Legionella Risk Assessments as a secondary service. Their services help Letting Agents manage their rented properties effectively and protect Landlords and Tenants from unfair financial losses at the end of the tenancy

Job duties and responsibilities:

  • Undertake property inspections at empty (not lived in) residential properties by inputting property data into a handheld mobile device, including a full record of fixtures, fittings, contents and decor within the property and their description and condition, in order to produce extremely detailed and accurate property reports that provide a comprehensive record of the property.
  • Meter readings will also need to be obtained and input into the report at the time of inspection. This will be done at the start and end of every tenancy in order to provide supporting legal evidence in the event of a deposit dispute occurring, with the aim of preventing disputes in the first place
  • Examine properties and all content within the properties both visually and through touch as well as by moving items in order to obtain relevant data to input into handheld mobile devices in order to produce a variety of property inspection reports
  • Check quality of own property inspection reports to ensure accuracy is consistent throughout
  • Maintain open and interactive communication with Customers including Letting Agents, Property Managers, Landlords and Tenants, in order to build sustainable relationships of trust
  • Ensure all Customers receive an excellent customer experience in order to ensure an excellent Company reputation
  • Collecting and returning keys to Lettings Agents, Landlords and other Customers in order to gain access to the properties for which you will be conducting inspections for that day


The successful candidate will have the following:

Would suit someone who would like an administration role but does not want to work in an office environment, as you will be out and about visiting empty/vacant rental properties all day in order to conduct reports. Would particularly suit someone who loves to be active and enjoys a healthy lifestyle.

  • Strong English skills are essential – both written and oral. Grade A* – B GCSE in English ideally
  • Outgoing and confident personality
  • Strong interpersonal skills
