APPRENTICESHIP COURSE: Early Years Practitioner Level 2

All our courses are accredited by an authorised awarding body or the Institute of Apprenticeships, guaranteeing you work towards an approved, professional certificate. Completing an apprenticeship will help you develop the knowledge and skills required to excel in your chosen career, providing a concrete foundation for future growth.

THE COMPANY:

We teach children by ensuring challenging, playful opportunities across the prime and specific areas of learning. We use a balanced and flexible routine to facilitate both adult and child led activities all through the nursery. We are a strong advocate of the fact the “Children learn through play” and as such we provide them with various opportunities to ensure that all the seven areas of learning and development are well covered which will in turn enhance their achieving as much of the early learning goals (if not all) as possible.

THE ROLE:

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a warm, friendly and stimulating atmosphere in which the children can develop emotionally, socially and educationally through individual attention and group activities. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensuring the safeguarding and wellbeing of all children at all times
• Spending time reading to children, telling stories or listening to them
• being on your feet all day, playing inside or outside or providing children with interesting arts and crafts work
• helping with cooking, preparing and feeding meals and snacks
• Assisting with toilet training and changing nappies
• Washing and change children, ensuring that they are clean
• Ensuring the nursery is clean and infection free
• To be a source of emotional stability for the children, comforting them when needed, but also supporting them to comfort themselves when they are able
• Act as key person for a group of children and ensure that information on your key-children is shared with all staff to ensure that all their needs are being met by all
• Carrying out observations and planning activities for the children with the support from room leader/curriculum manager
• To provide a wide and varied range of activities for the children individually and as a group appropriate to their needs and developmental stage, using The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum

SKILLS DEVELOPED WITHIN THE ROLE:

• Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage, extending and elaborating on children’s learning.
• Knowledge of the different age groups and how to plan activities accordingly.
