Coronavirus (COVID-19) Updates

There has been a recent rise in cases of coronavirus in the UK which causes COVID-19, a new illness that can affect your lungs and airways.  Current government guidance includes staying alert and staying safe and self-isolation for those displaying, or living with someone displaying symptoms of coronavirus including a fever and/or a new continuous cough. We recommend all employers advise their apprentices to follow all official guidance as closely as possible to minimise their risk of infection at this challenging time and follow government guidance if they feel unwell.

We appreciate this is a challenging time for all and we wish to reassure you we are working tirelessly to ensure we are able to continue our operations with minimal disruption to the high-quality service we aim to provide.

Please click here to view our coronavirus guide for learners.

We are commited to safeguarding our learners to ensure their health and wellbeing at all times. We understand this is a challegning time for all and we are doing all we can to continue supporting our learners by adapting our teaching to support those asked to work from home, self-isolate or those whose working status is impacted.

If you are studying with us and you, or somebody you live with, become unwell please contact us as soon as possible using the contact details below so we are able to provide individual guidance and make the necessary adjustments to your teaching,  learning and assessments to support you during this time.

Our safeguarding services remain accessible 24/7 and our team can be contacted at any time by using the following details:

The safety of our learners is our first priority and we will be monitoring official guidance closely to ensure we operate lawfully and in their best interests. We have moved all training sessions to remote delivery via our video conference facility, Zoom.

Zoom allows us to conduct remote training sessions to groups, one-to-one tutorials and additional learning support via video call using mobile, tablet and computer technology. This will allow us flexibility to continue to support learning and development at a distance wherever required and minimise disruption to learning as a result of any social distancing or self-isolation requirements that arise as a result of the coronavirus.

Official guidance has been published on gov.uk surrounding apprenticeship training whilst furloughed. This guidance states:

“Apprentices can be furloughed in the same way as other employees and they can continue to train whilst furloughed.

However, you must pay your Apprentices at least the Apprenticeship Minimum Wage, National Living Wage or National Minimum Wage (AMW/NLW/NMW) as appropriate for all the time they spend training. This means you must cover any shortfall between the amount you can claim for their wages through this scheme and their appropriate minimum wage.”

See the government guidance on paying your apprentices that are furloughed here.

As a business, we have made the decision to move all sales and training centre activity away from the office to reduce the potential risk to our employees so we are able to continue to support you. Therefore, all our sales and training centre team have been moved to working remotely, all office lines have been diverted to mobiles and you will be able to reach us as normal. Additionally, we have requested all our employees refrain from attending client meetings, holding face-to-face candidate interviews and attending the office until further notice and instead we will be moving all activity to video conferencing via Zoom.

We hope you can appreciate this decision has been made with in the best interests of our candidates, apprentices and employees to ensure we minimise public interaction in line with government guidance of social distancing to reduce the spread of infection. Video conferencing will allow us to continue to service business needs at a safe distance and reduce the risk to our employees and yours.

We understand some organisations may be making adjustments to operations including the provision of moving some roles to home-working and/or temporarily pausing operations. Please contact your Apprenticeship Connect contact to advise us as soon as possible of any changes of circumstance surrounding your apprentice or recruitment plans. If you are unable to reach the person you usually speak with, please contact callback@apprenticeshipconnect.co.uk.

Just fill out your name and contact details and one of our team will give you a call to discuss your query.
